Introduction & Background: The University of California, Santa Barbara (“UCSB”) requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (“RFQ”) from qualified professionals interested in providing detailed project programming, full design services, preparation of bidding documents, and construction administration services for the construction of the Sustainable Futures Institute, Ocean Science Education Building. The Architectural Services for the Sustainable Futures Institute, Ocean Science Education Building project (hereinafter referred to as the “Project”) will renovate up to approximately 7,000 ASF in the Ocean Science Education Building (“OSEB”), which has remained unfinished and vacant since the facility was constructed in 2012. The renovated space will accommodate the Sustainable Futures Institute, an interdisciplinary group of campus stakeholders pursing scholarship, creative activity, and community engagement around environmental solutions. The project will be designed to comply with the University of California Policy on Sustainable Practices, and must be designed to achieve a minimum of a LEED Gold Rating.
General Project Information: A shortlist of firms will be determined by a University screening committee, and final consultant evaluations and selection recommendations developed by a University selection committee. Candidate firms will be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy.
