Description of Work: Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, and services to provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, insurance, delivery and services to construct a new steam boiler(s) within a 3,000 square foot mechanical basement with limited access in Bio II building 571.   The project consists of replacing a steam boiler blowdown tank appertaining total flue ductwork replacement within basement to point of connection, all piping shall be demolished and reconstructed with new to facilitate replacement. Contractor shall provide electrical support, anchoring, connections conductors with associated boiler controls, concrete housekeeping pad and condensate drain connections. Boiler shall be kept active throughout construction with limited scheduled outages.

Only bidders who participate in the pre-bid conference, will be allowed to bid on the Project as a prime bidder. Only attendees at the original pre-bid conference will be permitted to schedule a subsequent site visit with the University Representative.

Bid Security: Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Bid shall accompany each Bid.  The Surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120).

General Project Information: The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons shall have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University's policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code.  No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].
