Summary of Work: Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Santa Barbara responses to the University's Level 1 contractor prequalification documents are sought from prospective bidders for the following University Project: The University has determined that bidders who submit proposals on this project must be prequalified. Prequalified bidders will be required to have the following active and current California contractor's license at the time of its submittal:
B – (General Building Contractor) AND C-10 (Electrical Contractor)
The University is seeking a qualified contractor holding both an active B- (General Contractor) AND C-10 (Electrical Contractor) meeting all of the qualifications described herein to construct of the Engineering II Switchgear Infrastructure Project (the “Project”). Only bidders prequalified by the University as described herein shall be invited to participate in a Best Value bid. The work involves replacement of the existing 480V/277V gear, 120V/208 gear, main switch, conductors, transformers and electrical equipment within the Engineering II Building roof penthouse. The Project will consist of several pre-construction outage phases, preparations, accelerated phased scheduling, 12-hour work days required, and possible holiday and weekend work during building outages. In addition to the electrical infrastructure, the successful contractor shall construct a new HVAC split cooling package system, new double door roof access, exterior roof replacement, a safety louvered railing, a new 240V system relocation and temporary electrical connections provisions.
Specified project equipment shall follow a ‘University Furnished / Contractor Installed’ (UFCI) structure, which will ultimately result in the purchase order for the pre-ordered equipment being assigned to the successful Contractor.
Estimated construction cost: $2,000,000.
General Project Information: The methodology used to determine Best Value as part of the competitive bidding process will be described in the Construction Documents. The lowest responsible bidder will be selected by the University on the basis of the Best Value to the University. The Best Value to the University will be determined using objective criteria with the resulting selection representing the best combination of both price and qualifications.
